Menopause: An Integrative Approach by Tieraona Low Dog, MD, AHG

2004 Foundations in Herbal Medicine (FIHM) Conference in Albuquerque, NM featuring Tieraona Low Dog, MD, AHG

The focus of this year’s conference will be Nervines & Adaptogens: what they are and why we use them. Case studies will have a prominent role in elucidating these and other topics. In addition, significant new research in medicinal botanicals will be discussed.

2003 FIHM Conference video tapes available - 10 hours $150
The conference started with observations concerning the FDA’s proposed GMP’s for dietary supplement manufacturing and the importance to health care professionals for labels to accurately reflect what’s in the bottle. This was followed by a discussion of the latest research with footnotes for black cohosh, red clover, ginseng(Panax spp.), and St. John’s wort, especially as they related to women. Then, there was a discussion of wild yam(the progesterone misunderstanding) and the use of Same, lemon balm and valerian for depression/anxiety. Saturday afternoon began the interactive case studies. The first case study was a 49 year old women with GERD and menopausal symptoms. The second case study that lasted all day Sunday took a women through pregnancy, child birth and the issues her child might face growing up.Topics included: Nassau; cramping/spotting; pre-eclampsia; post partum depression; mastitis, vaginal candidiasis, thrush, ear infections, soar throat, and ADD/ADHD. Student questions and responses helped to elucidate these topics and more.
