What do I receive when I finish the course?
Students who finish the course with an average homework grade of 75% or better will be presented with a certificate of completion signed by Dr. Tieraona Low Dog. Dr. Low Dog is a renowned Practitioner and Teacher within the conventional, alternative and herbal medicine communities. Her credentials lend significant credibility to the qualification obtained by completing this course.

How can I use this Certificate?
At the present time, there is no federally-recognized regulatory body overseeing the practice of Herbal Medicine in the US; therefore, there is no legal framework within which to practice Herbal Medicine in this country. However, successful completion of the course opens the door to many career opportunities including education in Herbal Medicine, consulting and working within the natural products industry and incorporating Herbal Medicine into a preexisting clinical practice.

What is the philosophical basis of this course?
Dr. Low Dog weaves her twenty years of experience as an herbalist and midwife together with her knowledge of biochemistry and allopathic medicine to create a truly integrated tapestry of perspectives and techniques in the realm of human health. Current, accurately researched information on botanical medicines, fully referenced Materia Medica, and the most up to date research on plant pharmacology, toxicology and medicinal uses provide modern grounding for traditional wisdom.

How does this course help me become a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild?
Although the AHG does not endorse or recommend any herbal school or correspondence course, FIHM is recognized as meeting many of the educational requirements for membership. Please contact the AHG www.americanherbalist.com for further information concerning professional membership in the AHG.

Are there updates to the course?
Modules will be updated as needed to keep abreast of the advances in Botanical Medicine. Students will be notified of updates as they become available.
